Day 286 of 1827: Quickie

Day 286 of 1827: Quickie

This afternoon, I stopped by Castaño for lunch.  When I went to pay with my credit card, the cashier asked me for my ID.

Um, ok… that’s weird.  Nobody’s ever asked me for ID for paying with credit card in Chile before….  Ok, well, here’s a photocopy of my passport.

The cashier took my document and gave me the credit slip to sign.

As soon as I was done, she gave me back my passport copy without checking my signature nor ID number.

Riiiiiiiight….

Today starts off another week, and that means another busy workday at Conectas.  I’m really digging working here; it’s got great ambiance, the wifi is fast, and the folks that work here are really friendly.

Speaking of work, I’m still negotiating that work contract.  There was a slight hiccup when the employer’s lawyer advised that the contract wasn’t valid for my residency application.  Um… that’s nice, but how about you let me worry about that, and you focus on serving your client, instead?

Well, that means it’s going to be another few days before we can sign this contract.

Thank goodness I still have another month on my tourist visa; it’s amazing how long things take sometimes.  This process is making Tigo look efficient!

Add that to the list of amazing things that Five Years Abroad can do for you:  It will teach you patience!

Firetrucks!
Oh goodie — now that’s what I want to see when I look out my window….
