Day 289 of 1827: Just Punning Around

I’m doing some apartment sitting for my friend Dan while he’s in the States visiting family and friends.

And occasionally, I will engage in a bit of apartment laying-about or – if I’m feeling particularly ambitious – apartment walking-around.

Time for a bit of business:  I need to issue a quick caveat to a tip I posted a few days ago about texting 1111 to find out when the next bus is arriving.

This morning, I tried it out… and it worked great!  But…

It turns out that you only get 2 free per day.  The third and subsequent time you ping this service, it costs 35 pesos.

They do a pretty good job of warning you, though… and it’s not a lot of money for what is arguably a really convenient service, so I’m not complaining too loudly.

Although the bus stop at Plaza Egaña has a digital read-out with the same information.  Hm….

This evening, while I was apartment settling-in-for-the-night, I noticed an email in my inbox.  Apparently, Paracaidismo Chile has been having some mechanical problems with their airplane, and they have to postpone all jumps until further notice.

Blah.  I’m going to bed.

There is more to Plaza Egaña than just a bus stop. Not that you’d know it by reading Wikipedia. The Metro station at Plaza Egaña has its own English Wikipedia page… but the historic plaza it is named for does not. Sometimes, I do not understand the internet.
